BALLYA Azaperone Test is manufactured by BALLYA, it’s rapid test for detection azaperone residues in feed, food and medicine, especially in feed and food. Lateral flow assay test base on the gold immunochromatography assay technology.
Azaperone is a butyrylbenzene neuroleptic. After intramuscular injection of the drug, animals can relieve tension, decrease their mobility, be indifferent to the environment and stay quiet for a long time.
It is helpful to avoid the phenomenon of animals attacking and fighting each other due to "cluster stress" and when they are mixed, and reduce the mortality caused by stress and trauma. Therefore, the drug is often used for pigs and other animals during long-distance transportation.
Mechanism of action of azaperone
The central effects of dopamine, norepinephrine, and other catecholamines can be blocked by butadiene benzene. Since the catecholamine neurotransmitter is blocked from passing through the neuron cell membrane, activation of cell receptors cannot occur.
In the extrapyramidal system, butyphthalene drugs can produce a pseudo-r-aminobutyric acid effect or prevent the effect of glutamate on synaptic junctions. Like all tranquilizers, azoperidone has an effect on the reticulated activation system of the brain, blocking nerve impulses passing through this area to the cerebral cortex, making it insensitive to external stimuli such as sound, smell and touch, and making the response to these stimuli is reduced.
What is Azaperone used for?
Azoperidone is an important bufenol benzene neuroleptic in veterinary medicine. It has several related neuro-stabilizing effects on livestock: reduced motor activity, may produce tonic fainting, reduced mortality due to stress and trauma, apomorphine's vomiting effect is blocked, and can prevent the lethal effect of catecholamines.
Azoperidone is a drug with fast action and short duration of action, which can be detoxified and eliminated quickly.
Uses of Azoperidone
It is suitable for reducing excitement during farrowing and preventing sows from abusing and mutilating their young pigs.
It can also be used to prevent heart overload syndrome, eliminate tension, and facilitate transportation; perform various surgical operations with local and general anesthesia.
Usage and Dosage of Azoperidone
1. A small dose (0.4-1.2mg/kg) is used for "stress" diseases or stressful conditions, such as nervousness and transportation. In this dose range, pigs can still walk and be quiet.
2. The medium dose (2mg/kg) is used to produce a "combined" effect, such as re-dividing piglets and hogs. The pig eventually lay down, showing drowsiness and dullness, but would move around if disturbed.
3. Large doses (4mg/kg for adult pigs and 8mg/kg for piglets) cause a "knockdown" effect, which can be used for various small amounts. Pigs cannot stand when lying down.
What are the Azaperone side effects?
The adverse reactions of azaperone are mainly in cardiovascular effects. After medication, arterial pressure drops, reflexes to stimulate breathing, skin vasodilation makes the skin pink; heart rate and cardiac output decrease.
These are all normal and inevitable reactions, and they should be separated from the pathological asthma before death. In addition, in order to avoid adverse reactions, the applicable dose for boars should not exceed 2 mg/kg.
Azaperone has a large safety range for pigs. Salivation and panting may occur at high doses, which will disappear automatically without leaving damage.

What specimen can be detected by BALLYA Azaperone Test?
Specimen include: all kinds of feed, food and medicine. Widely used in feed industry and food processing industry. You can choose the right products according to your needs.
Significance of testing Azaperone
To protect the animal have health feed, food and medicine, avoid contaminated food. The azaperone is harmful for animal being, can’t take too much in the body.
1. Take some feed or food specimen 2. Add the supernatant to cassette 3. Wait for 15 minutes to result 4. The details of operation, refer to the kit instruction
Limitations of BALLYA Azaperone Test?
BALLYA Azaperone Test is a qualitative test kit. It’s only for screening purpose. If have positive cases or suspected case, maybe use other detection method to make a further detection, such as, ELISA, PCR, qPCR, etc.
Conclusion
Sedative drugs, as drugs that inhibit the central nervous system of animals, are widely used in veterinary clinics. The detection of sedative drug residues is a necessary way to accurately grasp the status of drug residues in animal-derived foods. For different detection sources and different detection drugs, choosing the correct detection method is crucial.
As the application of sedatives becomes more and more widespread, and there are more and more types, detection methods require not only high efficiency, sensitivity and accuracy, but also good reproducibility and stability.
BALLYA Azaperone Test is suitable for the detection of hormone residues, toxic and harmful substances and antibiotic residues in feed, food and medicine. It can be widely used in food and drug administration, health departments, higher education institutions, scientific research institutes, agricultural departments, animal husbandry and veterinarians, breeding farms, slaughterhouses, food and meat products deep processing enterprises, inspection and quarantine departments and other units.
