What nutrients is milk for?
The main nutrients from milk are protein and calcium.
Proteins in milk are high-quality proteins that are not only fully amino acids but are better absorbed than photoprotein. While milk also contains fat and carbohydrates(lactose), these are not our focus when talking about pure milk. But in this society with great emphasis on “fat reduction”, people will be more and more interested in skim milk.
Which one do I drink, whole fat, low fat or skim?
Whole milk in the English language, usually refers to about 3.25% fat content milk.
Low-fat milk is milk with a fat content of 1% or 2%.
Skim milk is milk with a fat content of 0 (or very close to 0).
The protein content of these three types of milk is similar, the only difference is fat content. Because of the different fat content, the taste will also be affected. 1 or 2-year-old children must drink whole milk, after the age of 2 can gradually change to low fat and then become skim.
The fat in the milk is good, so you can drink any fat content without losing any weight, fat, and shaping. But when a person controls fat or caloric intake, I prefer low-fat or skim milk. There are several reasons as following:
1)A penny is also worth, and 1,000 calories are also counted. If you don't need this extra calories at all, why not choose the one with fewer calories.
2) there are many sources of good fat. So even if the fat in the milk is good, you can choose other good sources of fat to fill the gap. Fish and seafood are a good example.
3) If I talk to customers in a consultation that he should put less oil when cooking, this "less put" is abstract for many people. After all, how much is less, then put or not let go. But when I suggested reducing the fat content from 3.25% to 2%, people just chose another product when shopping. Fat content is clear at a glance and better controlled. Of course, this is not the reason why you can put more oil when cooking.
So if you need to strictly control fat intake for your reasons, you can choose to skim or low-fat milk according to your situation.
The difference between milk, soy milk, rice milk and nut milk?
The English names of these categories are milk, soy milk, rice milk, and nut milk. In addition to milk, the remaining few called “beverage” would be a little more appropriate. The protein content of soy drinks is similar to that of milk. But if you want to achieve the same nutritional value, you need to increase some calcium content.
Rice and nut (almonds) drinks are not very nutritious, but now some products add protein and minerals to make them similar in nutritional value to soy drinks and milk. However, such products are still relatively rare in China.
Do we usually exaggerate the nutritional value of milk?
Humans are rare adult mammals who drink milk, and usually, drink the milk of other animals. Some people will think that milk was originally for cattle to drink, so the nutritional value for people are not so high. Others say dairy products are now invested by big companies which make a great effort in publicity, completely exaggerating the nutritional value of milk.
It's a personal choice to drink or not to drink. Milk is easy to buy in most countries and convenient to carry. The content and quality of protein are considerable and are less expensive.
But for that word, any single food is not good for people if eat too much, including milk. Therefore, you should also pay attention to the diversification of the diet to take full and rich nutrition while drinking milk.
Can teenagers grow tall if they drink more milk?
Human height depends not only on nutrition but also on the environment, exercise and genes. So it's not as simple as drinking milk every day.
For teenagers, as long as the bones have room for development and nutrition to keep up with, there is still the possibility of growing tall. But this "nutrition can keep up" does not simply refer to protein and calcium, but also contains other vitamins, minerals, and comprehensive energy intake.
All in all, a good meal and a balanced diet can't be wrong.
Why is the color between milk different?
The color of the milk is related to the fat, the concentration, and the food that the cow eats. If the content of the β-carotene that is fed by the cow is high, the milk produced will also be more yellow. But now the technology is stable, cattle-raising and the agricultural side control these factors so that the produced milk is as much color as possible.
What is the difference between pasteurized milk and high-temperature sterilized milk?
Both methods of milk treatment belong to one of Pasteur's. Except that the former has a shorter heating time (usually 15 seconds) and lower temperature (about 72 degrees). The heating time and temperature of high -temperature sterilized milk are longer. Pasteurized milk needs cold storage in the refrigerator and is kept for a shorter period. High-temperature sterilized milk can be kept at room temperature and kept for months without unpacking.
The aim of both is to reduce bacteria in milk and inactivate some enzymes. It is reasonable that these two ways will not affect the taste of milk and the main nutrients. Choosing Ba-style milk or high-temperature sterilized milk is a more personal choice.
Can lactose intolerance drink milk?
Lactose intolerance is rare in early childhood but can be as high as 90% in adulthood, especially in East Asia. There is a sugar in dairy food called lactose. When we eat it, there is an enzyme (lactase) in our bodies to help us digest the sugar.
In infancy, our main food is breast milk or milk powder. As you grow up, rich food replaces breast milk. Especially in East Asia, soy milk, soya-bean milk, rice syrup and so on replace milk. If we reduce lactose in our diet, then lactase will gradually decrease.
Recommendations to be given in the case of lactose intolerance:
1. Reasonable lactose intake
Lactose intolerance is not equal to the inability to eat any milk-like food! Most of the lactose intolerance patients can consume 12 g of lactose (equivalent to a cup of milk) at one time. If milk has not been drunk for a long time, it is possible to start with a small amount of milk (60-125 ml at a time) for safety.
2.Can eat some dairy food
Ice cream, yogurt, cheese, and fermented dairy foods contain less lactose than milk. Given that everyone can accept different amounts of lactose, any discomfort can be reduced according to their situation.
4. Drink milk or eat dairy foods with other foods (cornmeal +milk; fruit+ yogurt; Simuxue, etc.)
5. Note that some drugs also contain lactose.
Although the content is low in general, it is recommended that patients with lactose intolerance ask the physician before drinking.
6. Choose milk without lactose (lactose-free, for example, Shuhua milk)
7. Take lactose drops before eating dairy products.
8. Eat beans with calcium as an alternative
If you have lactose intolerance, you can also drink calcium-added soy milk/soya-bean milk to ensure sufficient calcium intake (because the calcium content of soybean itself is very low, it is best to quote beans with calcium addition). Remember to shake it before you drink it! Of course, calcium tablets are not needed in a balanced diet. Please see a doctor in special circumstances.
When will it be better to drink milk 24 hours a day?
There's no special time to drink when you want to drink.
Milk and some other foods may be better for lactose intolerant people, which can slow the absorption of lactose.
For people who are prone to flatulence, slow digestion, or very small appetite, try not to drink when eat, or the capacity for eating will be less. So in this case, it will be better to put the milk after the meal.
The difference between milk, milk powder and protein powder?
If we simplify things, milk powder is milk without liquid. It still contains protein, fat (whole milk powder or low-fat milk powder) and carbohydrates. The protein source of protein powder can come from milk or other protein food, and depending on the variety and purity. Protein is the main source, supplemented by carbohydrates. The content of fat is usually very low.
