    Trivia questions : What is Ractopamine?

    Ractopamine

    Ractopamine is a feed additive that improves lean meat in meat animals. Pharmacologically, it is an agonist and β-adrenergic receptor agonist used to stimulate β1 and β2 adrenergic receptors. It is the active ingredient of an optaflexx Paylean product called pig and cattle. It was discovered by a division of Elanco, Animal Health, and is a food animal used to promote growth.

    Ractopamine properties

    Chemical formula: C18H23NO3Cl
    Molecular Weight: 337.83
    Customs code: 2922.1100
    Chemical Classification: Phenylethanolamines

    Ractopamine uses

    The role of ractopamine: ractopamine is a medicinal raw material, a cardiotonic drug that can be used to treat rushing heart failure. It can also be used to treat muscular dystrophy, grow muscle, reduce fat accumulation, and be beneficial to fetal and newborn growth! The above is its medical use. He also has a more major use - to increase the daily weight gain of animals, increase the utilization rate of feed, increase the protein content of animals, and increase the lean meat rate! (Also known as lean meat powder) Don't think lean meat powder is bad! Lactopamine is not the same as lean meat powder used domestically, with minimal side effects, and can be legally added in the United States!

    Ractopamine testing

    Liquid phase method
    Acetonitrile and methanol: chromatographically pure;
    Methanol, dichloromethane, n-hexane: analytical grade;
    2% glacial acetic acid: Take 5ml glacial acetic acid and make up to 250ml with water.
    Extraction solution: Take 900ml methanol, make up to 1000ml with water, add 2ml concentrated hydrochloric acid, and mix well.
    Mobile phase: Take 320ml of acetonitrile, make up to 1000ml with water, add 20ml of glacial acetic acid and 0.87g of sodium pentanesulfonate, and mix well.
    Ractopamine standard stock solution: Accurately weigh 0.1000 g of ractopamine (purity ≥99%), place it in a 100ml volumetric flask, dissolve it in methanol, make up to volume, and store it at a concentration of 1000μg / ml in a 4 ° C refrigerator.
    Clembaan standard working solution: Accurately draw a certain amount of standard stock solution, place it in a 10ml volumetric flask, dilute with dilute 2% glacial acetic acid, and make up to a volume of 0.01μg / ml, 0.1μg / ml, 0.2 Standard solutions of μg / ml, 0.5 μg / ml, 1.0 μg / ml, and 2.0 μg / ml were tested by HPLC.

    Ractopamine test kit

    The indirect competition ELISA method is used to detect ractopamine in the sample. The antigen is precoated on the microwell strips. The ractopamine in the sample will compete with the precoated antigen on the microwell strips to compete against the ractopamine antibody. After labeling, the color was developed with TMB substrate, and the absorbance value of the sample was negatively correlated with the content of ractopamine in the sample. Compared with the standard curve, the residual amount of ractopamine in the sample could be obtained.

    Ractopamine hydrochloride

    Ractopamine hydrochloride is a medicinal material, a cardiotonic drug that can be used to treat congestive heart failure. It can also be used to treat muscular dystrophy, grow muscle, reduce fat accumulation, and be beneficial to fetal and newborn growth. The US FDA approved it in 2010 and can be used for animal nutrition re-formulation, and is widely used in animal husbandry and aquaculture. It can simultaneously increase the daily weight gain of animals, increase feed utilization, and increase protein content of animals.

    Ractopamine side effects

    Ractopamine toxicity

    Ractopamine is far less toxic than other lean extracts with the same function. Regular doses of Clenbuterol can be metabolized and excreted in the body without causing harm to the body.

    Ractopamine poisoning

    However, excessive intake of ractopamine can cause different degrees of toxic reactions in the human body. The symptoms are similar to those of animal poisoning, and manifested as muscle tremor, limb paralysis, tachycardia, arrhythmia, abdominal pain, muscle pain, nausea and dizziness People can cause high blood pressure, heart disease and even death.

    Ractopamine poisoning symptoms

    Poisoning of meat or internal organs containing ractopamine residues may cause symptoms of poisoning such as dyspnea, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, headache, muscle tremors, palpitations, arrhythmia, increased blood pressure, promotion of cardiovascular disease, and reproductive system and many more.

    Ractopamine ban

    The scope of application and safety of this drug in the aquaculture industry varies from country to country. Ractopamine was approved by the US Food and Drug Administration in 1999, but has been banned for use in pig farming in the European Union, Russia and China. In fact, ractopamine has been banned by nearly 200 countries as a pig additive. China has restricted the use of receptor agonists since 2002, and in 2009 specifically imposed a ban on ractopamine.

    Summary

    Livestock farmers should strictly ban the use of ractopamine in farming at the source. Strengthen the monitoring of feed production and distribution processes, and management of pig, cattle, sheep and other farms, and promote simple, fast and accurate detection methods. In order to effectively avoid the food safety problems of ractopamine.
    The Ractopamine Rapid Test (Tissue) kit provided by BALLYA can effectively detect whether food contains ractopamine residue. This kit is not only simple to operate, but also has a short test time and high accuracy. Can ensure consumers Food safety.
