Trivia questions : What is Clenbuterol?

    About clenbuterol

Clenbuterol is usually referred to as lean meat powder.
Clenbuterol is a colorless microcrystalline powder, Chinese alias: Clenbuterol for Clenbuterol; scientific name: Clenbuterol hydrochloride; an asthma drug with molecular formula C12H18Cl2N2O and molecular weight of 277.19, Boiling point is 404.9 ± 40.0 °C (760 mmHg), melting point is 161 °C, soluble in water, ethanol, slightly soluble in acetone, insoluble in ether.

    Clenbuterol pharmacological action

Clenbuterol is a potent β2 receptor agonist. It is characterized by a small effective dose and long-lasting effect, and its bronchodilator effect is 100 times that of albuterol. Clenbuterol was taken orally 30 μg three times a day in asthma patients, compared with 5 mg orally terbutaline 3 times a day. They have similar effects on increasing FEV1 and maximum expiratory flow rate (FEF) and reducing airway resistance. It can be seen that the asthma effect of oral clenbuterol is 170 times stronger than that of terbutaline.

    Clenbuterol dosage

    1. 20 ~ 40μg each time, 3 times a day.
    2. Sublingual administration: 60 to 120 μg each time, first sublingual administration. After the asthma is relieved, send the rest with warm water.
    3. Aerosol inhalation: 10 to 20 μg each time, 3 to 4 times per day.
    4. Rectal administration: 60 μg twice daily (or once before bedtime).

    Clenbuterol hydrochloride

    Clenbuterol hydrochloride properties

Clenbuterol hydrochloride is chemically named α-[(tert-butylamino) methyl] -4-amino-3,5-dichlorobenzyl alcohol hydrochloride, with a molecular formula of C12H18CI2N2O · HCI and a molecular weight of 313.65. It is a white or similar white crystalline powder, odorless, bitter, soluble in water, ethanol, slightly soluble in acetone or chloroform, insoluble in ether, chemically stable, cannot be destroyed by ordinary methods, and heated to 172 °C to break down.

    Clenbuterol hydrochloride mechanism of action

It binds to the β-adrenergic receptor to form an agonist receptor complex, which activates the G5 protein, and the alpha subunit of the G5 protein subsequently activates adenylate cyclase, the cyclic adenylate (cAMP) produced by the enzyme) Is an important intracellular messenger molecule. The mechanism by which cyclic adenosine (cAMP) produces an effect is through binding to the regulatory subunit of protein kinase k to release the catalytic subunit of the enzyme, which phosphorylates a series of intracellular proteins. Some of these proteins are enzymes that are activated when phosphorylated. Cyclic adenylate response element binding protein (CREB) is phosphorylated by protein kinase A, binds to the cAMP response element of a gene regulatory site, and activates the transcription of this gene. Phosphorylation enhances the transcriptional activity of CREB, which is also in breastfeeding in animal cells, β-adrenergic receptor agonists mediate the transcription of many genes, and the activities of other enzymes are inhibited during phosphorylation

    Clenbuterol hydrochloride poisoning

Acute poisoning of clenbuterol hydrochloride is mainly due to the activation of β2 adrenergic receptors in the heart and skeletal muscle. If you take too much clenbuterol for a short period of time, it can cause acute poisoning. The clinical manifestations are heart palpitations, chest tightness, dizziness, headache, nausea and vomiting, sore neck and back muscles, and increased blood pressure. The electrocardiogram showed sinus tachycardia, paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia, sinoatrial block, and premature beats. Laboratory tests include increased blood image, myocardial enzymes, elevated blood glucose, decreased blood potassium, increased creatinine, and increased urea nitrogen.

    Clenbuterol side effects

    Clenbuterol poisoning

In recent years, it has been found that adding clenbuterol to feed can promote animal growth and increase the lean meat ratio of livestock and poultry, so it is called lean meat essence. Poisoning can be caused by consuming the internal organs or meat of animals that contain residual lean meat.

    Clenbuterol poisoning diagnosis

    1. A history of excessive consumption of animal offal or meat with lean meat extract residues.
    2. Clinically, β-receptor excitement is manifested by cardiovascular toxicity, which may include palpitations, tachycardia, hyperhidrosis, muscle tremor, muscle weakness; headache, nausea, and dyspnea; convulsions and hypertension may occur in severe cases Crisis.
    3. Laboratory inspection
    (1) Electrolyte disorders such as low potassium and low magnesium.
    (2) Elevated blood sugar and myocardial enzymes.
    (3) ECG: tachycardia, atrial fibrillation, ST-T changes may occur in severe cases.

    Clenbuterol poisoning Treatment

To prevent the drug from continuing to be absorbed, those who are poisoned should induce vomiting as soon as possible and lavage the stomach if necessary.
    Symptomatic treatment
    (1) Maintain water, electrolyte and acid-base balance.
    (2) Antihypertensive drugs can be used in patients with hypertension.
    (3) Symptoms can be applied to relieve symptoms in mild cases.

    Summary

In order to ensure the quality and safety of livestock products and protect human health, many countries have banned the use of clenbuterol in the production of food-borne animals. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has classified clenbuterol in meat Residue is a mandatory inspection item, and the EU is strictly forbidden to add "lean extract" drugs to feed. Although China proposed to ban the use of "clenbuterol" drugs in 2000, the use of "clenbuterol" in animal husbandry production is still banned.
The Clenbuterol Rapid Test (Urine) kit provided by BALLYA can effectively detect whether food contains clenbuterol residues. This kit is not only simple to operate, but also has a short test time and high accuracy. Can ensure consumers Food safety.
